Czech Language Courses for Adults

What courses do we offer?

We offer courses for various levels – from beginners (A1) to advanced students (B2).

A1 level

Courses for beginners and false beginners

  • 100 lessons (100 x 45 minutes) – duration approx. 4 months
  • Basic phrases, greetings, introduction
  • Topics – family, city, housing and transport, food and drinks, weather
  • Basic grammar

A2 – B2 levels

Advanced courses

  • 50 lessons (50 x 45 minutes)
  • The lessons are tailored to the needs of the group, with focus on grammar, conversation and listening, to the same extent.

Who are the courses for?

The Czech language courses for beginners are only designed for non-EU citizens with legal residence in the Czech Republic for a period exceeding 90 days.

The Czech language courses for advanced are designed for foreigners, including EU citizens with legal residence in the Czech Republic for a period exceeding 90 days.

The courses are not designed for seekers of international protection.

What are the conditions of participation?

Students pay a refundable deposit of CZK 1,500 prior to the start of the course, the rest of which is free of charge. The deposit is refunded when the student attends at least 70% of the course.

The courses are not sequential; registration for the following level is required.

You can study a course at the same level only once every 12 months and twice at the most in total!

Participation in the course does not constitute eligible grounds for applying for a student visa for the stay in the Czech Republic.

Where do the courses take place?

Most of the courses take place at the Integration Centre Prague at Žitná 1574/51, 110 00 Prague 1. Some of the advanced courses will take place in some city districts.

How to register?

There are three simple steps to register:

Getting an ID and passing an on-line test

20. 8. – 4. 9. at 10.00 a.m.

Fill in your personal and contact data to receive a unique ID number for on-line registration for the corresponding course.

Pass an on-line test that determines your level of Czech language. Based on your result, the system will offer you courses on the day of registration that match your level.

On-line registration for a course

4. 9. from 10:00 a.m.

After logging in to the system with your ID on the day of on-line registration, you can choose a specific course from the available courses.

On-line registration starts on a specific day and hour, and ends when the capacity is reached.

ATTENTION: The capacity of the courses may be reached during a few seconds after the on-line registration starts.

When you successfully register on-line for a course, you will receive an e-mail with organisational information about when and where to go to complete your registration.

Completing your registration at the ICP central office

Come personally with an identification document and pay the refundable deposit of CZK 1,500 (in cash).

ATTENTION: All the aforementioned steps of registration are required to enrol in a course.

Czech language courses for children

from 6 to 15

What courses do we offer?

  • We organise two-week intense holiday courses that take place on workdays in the morning or afternoon.
  • One course consists of 50 lessons (50 x 45 minutes)
  • Czech language for children is taught in a playful way –, the courses also teach children about the social and cultural environment of the Czech Republic.

Who are the courses for?

  • They are designed for foreigners below 15 from countries outside the EU who are legally staying in the Czech Republic for more than 90 days.
  • Children – beginners can register. There are two age groups: 6-9 and 10-15.

What are the conditions of participation?

  • Register your child, as the legal representative, using the button below.
  • When the registration is successful, you will receive a confirmation e-mail where you will learn when and where to go to sign the required documents.
  • The courses are free of charge, there is no refundable deposit. Children receive learning material from the teacher.
