Deadlines you should be aware of

List of the crucial deadlines for foreigners

If you are a foreigner living in the Czech Republic, you have plenty of duties. One of them is meeting the established deadlines. The most important ones concern the following situations:

1. You have changed your address

You have to inform the OAMP – Department for Asylum and Migration Policy of the Ministry of the Interior – about the change of your address within 30 calendar days from the change. For Ukrainians with temporary protection, the period is 3 working days.

2. There has been a change regarding your name, surname or marital status

You must declare any change of your personal data to OAMP within 3 working days from the day the change happened.

3. You have lost your residence permit card or your passport

If you have lost your residence permit card, or it has been stolen or damaged, it is your duty to inform the OAMP about this fact within 3 working days. The loss or theft of a passport shall be reported immediately to the police.

4. Your residence permit has expired

You are obligated to hand over your expired residence permit card to OAMP without unnecessary delay.

5. There were some errors in your residence permit application

If you were asked to dismantle some errors in your residence permit application (such as missing documents, etc.) by a letter from the Ministry of Interior, it is your duty to do so within the deadline stated in the letter. The deadline starts on the delivery date. In case you are not able to meet the deadline due to objective reasons, you have to ask the Ministry of Interior for deadline extension or interruption of the procedure in writing.

6. You would like to extend your long-term residence or long-term visa

You can apply for extension of your long-term residence or long-term visa no sooner than 90 calendar days before its expiration and no later than on the expiration day.

7. You were invited to provide your biomatric information

You have to come to the OAMP to provide your biometric information on the exact date that you were given through the letter or phone call.

8. Your biometric card is ready

You need to pick up your biometric card within 60 calendar days after it was issued. Otherwise your residence permit will be terminated.

9. You have an employee card and you have just quit your job

From the first day after the day of your employment termination you have 59 calendar days during which you must find a new job and inform the OAMP about this change. Notice of the change must be received by the OAMP within this period.

10. You have an employee card and you have found a new job

You are obligated to declare the starting date of the new employment to OAMP at least 30 calendar days before the actual start. You must comply with the reported date.
